Emily Weber, MSW, CBP, TP, NHPC,

Emily Weber is a certified BodyTalk practitioner who lives and works on Manitoulin Island. During a visit to this tranquil Ontario holiday destination in 2005, she experienced the high vibrational energy of the land resonating directly with the vibrations in her own body. She listened as the land spoke to her, and by 2007 she was setting up her home and private practice in the Little Current area. When her future clients disembark from the boat at Little Current, her office is less than a five minute walk away. They know that a Trager® or Thai massage is just waiting to happen, to replace pain and restrictions with greater ease of movement, pleasure and openness.

They discover a Natural Health Practitioner of Canada member who consistently builds healing bridges over which they are invited to cross. With her background in medical social work, and her recent Certified Practitioner status in the BodyTalk System™, Emily’s skills and understanding span across a wide space, encompassing many paradigms. She creates a welcoming environment for those seeking rejuvenation and renewal.

Emily has a Masters degree in Social Work. She spent over 8 years working in a hospital setting, in both rehabilitation and in a medical area. In 2001 she had opportunity to go to Thailand for six months to learn Thai massage. By the end of 2002 she opened Willowdance Wellness Centre, beginning her private practice in Thai massage. She returned for further courses in osteo-Thai massage in 2012. In 2003 Emily began her studies in the Trager Approach (a unique form of hands on care, not unlike massage) and became a Certified Trager Practitioner in 2006.  Although she was effective in communicating with hospital clients using words, the professional boundaries for a social worker disallow the use of human touch, so in 2006, it was time for Emily to expand her private practice work.

Some of her massage clients come purely for relaxation, ongoing self-care and nurturing. Other clients have specific challenges they are looking to have transformed or modified, such as chronic pain, fibromyalgia, PTSD or recovery from a broken limb or surgery. When clients contact her with a specific issue, she is certain that what she has to offer facilitates healing on all levels – physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. She describes her own experience after a motor vehicle accident in 2011 as “humbling”. She had surgery, a lengthy hospitalization and complications involving pain. Receiving BodyTalk was a part of what allowed her to fully recover.

Today Emily uses the proven techniques of the BodyTalk System™ to ensure her clients attain the highest level of health and wellness. Those energy blocks can and do dissolve – some immediately and others over time. She describes each massage or BodyTalk session as a “beautiful, sacred moment where she gets in touch with what her client needs to experience, express and release”.

The natural aspiration to function at optimal health is the birth right of every human being. Brief, powerful, respectful interventions coming from and through a skilled, empathic listener such as Emily are very effective. Her clients depart with renewed bodies, energy and perspectives.

Manitoulin Island is an ideal place to get your life back, perhaps balanced as never before.  You could decide to arrive by boat or drive across the bridge from the mainland. If you are looking for a few days away (or longer) you might want to make a reservation at Emily’s cottage vacation rental next to her home in Honora Bay. You may find your body, mind and spirit begin to move to a new heart beat, something akin to the Willow Dance. You can check out pictures of the cottage and learn more at Emily’s web site.
