BodyTalk Access Helps to Relieve Post Traumatic Stress
by Cherie Carpenter, CBI
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can develop after an individual has experienced or witnessed major traumatic events. Particularly vulnerable to lives of stress and anxiety are first responders and men or women returning to family and community after active military service.
The distressing disorder may produce vivid memories as nightmares and conscious, flashbacks, avoidance of reminders, depression, and in some cases self-destructive actions. Some tendencies as they arise will be reported by PTSD sufferers. Medications may be prescribed which could lead to dependency for years. Other addictive substances or emotional outbreaks may follow, seriously jeopardizing any or all desired relationships.
Loving individuals may feel silently respecting victim privacy is the compassionate way to deal with any personality changes in daily contact. This could widen the circle of PTSD sufferers as negative symptoms can spread like a relationship virus. Trauma produces fear that is locked into every aspect of normal human functions. Thus, the cycle continues in both mental and physical consciousness.
The BodyTalk System was designed to relieve PTSD and other anxiety disorders. Each client's unique physical and mental healing requirements are addressed in this WholeHealthCare therapeutic approach. Stress-producing emotions are identified and released in a simple manner that works with the body's natural healing responses. Restorative action is fast and painless as the body and mind return to a healthy energy and overall wellness.
Phobias are specific persistent, excessive and unreasonable fears of an object or life situation. Some common phobias beyond voluntary control include fear of spiders, rodents, snakes, flying, heights, injections, and circumstances where escape is difficult.
Social Anxiety Disorder is an intense fear of social situations and excessive concern about embarrassment or humiliation. Avoiding parties, dating, performing or speaking in front of others, and employment interviews considerably narrow a life.
Generalized Anxiety Disorder manifests as excessive, uncontrollable worries about daily life. Negative potential future events such as illness or death of a loved one, work issues, and world events such as natural disasters, combine with minor concerns like how heavy the weekend traffic will be.
Panic Disorder is characterized by unexpected and repeated panic attacks, followed by a period of worry about additional attacks and something bad happening such as going crazy, losing control, or dying. It can be mistaken for a heart attack.
Individuals with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder experience obsessions, or ugly, intrusive thoughts and engage in repetitive behaviors or mental acts to reduce anxiety. Compulsions may include repeated hand-washing, checking, tapping, or mental routines (such as counting backwards from 100). An intrusive thought might be "I might get sick and die from touching a bathroom door".
